how we work

Steps

  1. The first step of engaging with us is to run through a complimentary consultation to ascertain which services that would assist you. This is called the job scope. It is to ensure we are clear about who does what, by when, how it is done, what is needed etc. This process is a great opportunity for both all parties to ask any questions or raise any issues.

  2. The second step is to discuss pricing options and draw up our Letter of Engagement so we have a written agreement about who does what.

  3. The third step is a free of charge review built in after a few months. This is important as an opportunity to reflect and check the Engagement has been set up to be as helpful as possible for the business owner. At any time after this either party can then come back with a request for a further review.

Getting Value from your Bookkeeping

As a priority, we focus on providing value to our clients, so we deliver exactly what is needed. The price of this can range from $40 per week to $2,000 per month for a full service. Added value work can include Xero conversions, setting up payroll and clean ups on historic numbers. Some of the factors that can affect the ongoing fee for services are the number of transactions on your bank statement, how much automation is currently set up in your Xero, how many sales invoices and bills and issued and received, frequency of your GST returns, how many reports are needed etc.

However, the most important factor regards getting value for your bookkeeping fee is to take the time to carefully consider the split of tasks between bookkeeper and the business owner. Some business owners find that after a little training and Xero set up, they are able to do a lot of the day to day work themselves. For a start up, we recommend business owners consider doing some of the bookkeeping themselves. For a larger business, we recommend more work is outsourced to a bookkeeper unless the business owner is keen to learn some of the more advanced features of Xero.

Examples of Services

The table shows six of the most common bookkeeping tasks and three different ways the bookkeeper could help out. There are many additional ways the tasks can be divided up between bookkeeper and business owner depending on the unique needs of the business.

The common theme across all our services is that we work in with your specialised tax accountant who carries out the more specialised year end work.
